CEREC

Here at Family Dentistry of West Bloomfield, our entire team keeps up with the latest in dental technologies because we strive to provide our patients with pleasant, yet efficient visits that will leave them with a shining smile. In an effort to use only state-of-the-art equipment, we proudly offer CEREC 3-D technology to our patients.

What Is Cerec?

CEREC, or Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, is a system that we utilize to provide restorations to our patients. This convenient system allows us to design and fabricate a ceramic restoration in house, allowing us to provide our patients with quality cosmetic dentistry, including one-visit crowns, veneers or bridges.

This system has revolutionized cosmetic dentistry, as we no longer require our patients to visit our office multiple times in order to receive one treatment. Now, we can perform these procedures in our office on the same day!

How It Works

This system operates using four fundamental steps, outlined below –

1.    Dr. Berris or Dr. Goldstein will examine your teeth, identifying if there is a need for any ceramic restorations. If a need is identified, they will then remove the tooth decay or old filling.
2.    Your West Bloomfield cosmetic dentist will prepare your teeth to be photographed by a digital 3-D camera. Once prepped, Dr. Berris or Dr. Goldstein will painlessly glide the CEREC camera over your teeth.
3.    Based on these digital images, our CEREC technology will create a custom restoration for the teeth that our doctors identified in the first step. This restoration is precise and customized to your needs, matching your tooth color and surrounding tooth shape.
4.    Finally, Dr. Berris or Dr. Goldstein will secure the tooth into your mouth!

Just like that, the ceramic restoration process is done – you will see and feel the difference immediately, and the restoration is there to stay.

The Benefits of Cerec

As you now know, the convenience of CEREC makes it a favorable system. Some other benefits of CEREC include:

•    No waiting, no temporary restorations, no problem!
•    A quick visit, taking about 1.5 – 2 hours, maximum.
•    A more comfortable process, requiring less anesthetic or numbing shots
•    What appears to be a natural result – CEREC restorations are made of porcelain that blends in with the rest of your teeth.
•    Preserves any healthy, existing tooth structure, instead of drilling it down altogether.
